One of the most amazing realizations from our trip to the desert, was many plants have yet to be discovered. In fact, according to Jim Andre, an academic advisor to our project, many flora species risk becoming extinct before they are even discovered! see:
Not quite desert roses, two new species of desert poppies from North America amaze with their simple beauty. The newly described plants are found in the deserts of California and Arizona and have a vibrant yellow colored flowers, typical for all the desert dwellers from the Eschscholzia genus of the poppy family. The study was published in the open-access journal PhytoKeys.
