Then we went what felt like forever more driving adjacent to miles and miles and miles of Military bases in Nevada desert. Finally by around 7 PM, landed in the Best Western in Fallon, our bodies pretty bent out of shape from the long drive. All we could think about was dinner, so we wandered down the few blocks of Maine street, checked out the Basques dining room at the old hotel, which we were told had been closed for six months, and found ourselves at the only quaint place we could find in town called the Maine Street Café. It was actually delightful – a little café that used to be open for lunch only – but now recently opened for dinner too. David chatted with neighboring diners about the dire water situation in the area due to drought – and they spoke about how hurting the farmers were, then we dropped back to the hotel for the night.
