Wells Fargo Announced as Lead Sponsor of
“A Walk in the Park with David Vassar”
Special screening of documentary which highlights National Parks scheduled for Friday, June 17, in Angels Camp; filmmaker to be present at screening
MURPHYS, CALIF., June 1, 2016 – Backcountry Pictures, in cooperation with the Calaveras Arts Council, is proud to announce Wells Fargo as a lead sponsor of the West Coast Premier of “A Walk in the Park with David Vassar” featuring the Academy Award®-nominated and Emmy® Award-winning writer, director, producer, and documentarian David Vassar. The screening will take place Friday, June 17, 2016, at Bret Harte Theater in Angels Camp. Optional VIP meet-and-greet with David Vassar will follow at Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort’s CAMPS Restaurant.
“A Walk in the Park with David Vassar” is an epic, life-long film retrospective through America’s magnificent Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Death Valley national parks, among others, highlighted with personal stories from Vassar’s lifetime of environmental filmmaking. The film was first presented to a sold-out audience and received resounding accolades during the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History’s 2016 Environmental Film Festival this past March.
“The Central Valley is home to three national parks – Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon – gems whose majestic nature should be preserved and maintained,” said Sandy Raco, Central Valley Area President for Wells Fargo. “We’re thrilled to serve as a sponsor of the West Coast premiere of “A Walk in the Park with David Vassar”. Doing so allows Wells Fargo the opportunity to continue our tradition of supporting national parks – a support that dates back to the 1860s, more than 50 years before the National Park Service was officially established. Our hope is that this film inspires the next generation of advocates who will protect and enjoy our nation’s treasured parks.”
David Vassar, co-founder of Backcountry Pictures, says, “Without Wells Fargo’s recognition and generous support, it would not be possible to present this film retrospective in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial across California. It’s an honor and privilege to work with a company that has such a long and magnanimous legacy of philanthropy and advocacy in support of the National Park Service. On behalf of everyone at Backcountry Pictures, we are very grateful for Wells Fargo’s participation. ”
